That includes the SD slot. Unless the SD slot on that Acer is some obscure piece of hardware (which I doubt), then a Linux live CD from any of the major distros (Ubuntu, Mandriva, Fedora, OpenSUSE, etc, etc) should detect it and be able to read from it fine while being just booted to the CD.

A Linux live CD from one of the major distros is a fantastic PC troubleshooting tool as most come with full HW support and loads of great tools to find and fix PC problems.
